Small Dishwashers With Big Benefits

Small Dishwashers With Big Benefits

Not everyone has the luxury of a huge kitchen, with vast spaces for under-counter appliances. There are certain appliances that many people can’t do without, such as a washing machine. And while a dishwasher may seem like a bit of a luxury in a small kitchen, there’s an ingenious solution.

Table-top dishwashers have become increasingly popular among householders who want the convenience of a dishwasher, but don’t have the space to squeeze one under their work surfaces. After all, we know there are more exciting things to do than to be stood at the kitchen sink washing your pots and pans!

So, here’s a little more information about table-top dishwashers…

1) Size – Table top dishwashers usually hold up to six place settings. What do we mean by a place setting? Well, manufacturers typically say that one place setting consists of one dinner plate, one soup plate, one dessert plate, a glass tumbler, a tea cup and saucer, a knife, a fork and three spoons (soup, dessert and teaspoon). So, while six settings might initially not sound like too much, you’ll probably find there’s plenty of room, particularly if you live alone, or as a couple.

2) Energy – Because table-top dishwashers are slimmer units, you will tend to find that they have a good energy rating. That means you won’t be spending the earth when you’re cleaning your pots, and they are very efficient when it comes to water usage. Plus, because they are more compact, they can be quieter than a traditional-sized dishwasher, too. Bonus!

3) Style – Table-top dishwashers are often on view, on counter surfaces (unless you wanted to box them in), and manufacturers have got wise to the fact that they need to look stylish. Obviously it depends on what price you want to pay, but Bosch do a pretty cool range (the SKS50E16EU) in black, yellow or red. Quite often, nowadays, manufacturers are aiming to make their table-top dishwashers as sleek in design as possible, without touch controls rather than protruding buttons. It’s important to pick a style that suits the existing design of your kitchen so it blends into the design rather than standing out.

4) Hygiene – did you know that washing your dishes in a dishwasher is a much more hygienic way to clean your pots and pans than the traditional manner in the sink? A dishwasher uses water that’s much hotter than human hands can stand in the sink, even in rubber gloves. That means all bacteria can be safety washed off your dirty crockery.

5) Programmes – Just because you’re compromising on size with a table-top dishwasher, doesn’t mean that they don’t come jam-packed with different programmes. You’ll still find functions like intensive clean (or rapid clean), automatic setting (which adjusts the amount of water needed depending on whether you’ve filled your table top dishwasher, or are just washing a few things), time delay (to ensure your pots are clean at a particular time), economy load setting and much more.

So, just because you’re tight for space in your kitchen, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the gadgets.
