Understanding the Energy Efficiency Rating

The energy ratings for ovens range from A+++ to D. Choosing the most energy-efficient rating you can afford will pay off in the long term. Aim for an A-grade appliance, or an A+, A++, or even an A+++, to maximise your energy savings and reduce energy bills.

Other kitchen appliances are graded A to G. Labels fluctuate slightly depending on the product’s type, so spend some time to understand the amount of energy each product uses. Washing machine energy labels, for example, will indicate capacity, water usage, and noise.

Using Energy Efficient Combi Ovens

A combi oven is extremely energy efficient and can work on either electricity or gas, reducing overall energy consumption. Water is cycled through the oven to create steam. The filtration system will remove salts from the water, prevent scaling, and keep it running properly.

A combi oven consumes very little water and power. Insulation inhibits heat loss, which reduces energy use.

Using Induction Hobs

An induction hob saves more energy than a gas or electric hob. This is due to the fact that no energy is lost while heating the space around the pan. In terms of efficiency, electric hobs are your next best option because gas cooking loses a lot of heat because the heat is used to heat your kitchen rather than your food.  With energy prices as high as they are any option that means you will use less energy is likely to be preferable.

Using Quooker Tap

By leaving the tap running until the water gets cold enough for a drink, we waste a lot of water in the kitchen.  We boil more water than we need in a kettle and often have to reboil it if it has gotten chilly!

A Quooker tap is one of the best energy-efficient appliances. It can provide cold, filtered, and boiling water instantly with less energy consumption.  You’ll never use more water than you need.

Not only that, but you will also save on energy.

A Quooker is made up of two parts: a boiling-water tap on top of the worktop and a small tank below that stores water at 110ºC. This tank functions as a thermos flask, connected to the water supply. Because of the high-vacuum insulation, heat cannot escape. That means only 10 watts of energy are required to keep the water in the tank boiling.

Using Led Lights

Make your kitchen shine brightly without using so much energy! LED lights can save up to 75% more energy than traditional lighting. They emit very little thermal energy since the vast majority of energy is emitted in the form of light.

LED bulbs last much longer than traditional bulbs because they lack any components that burn or degrade over time, resulting in lower energy bills. LEDs may last up to 25,000 hours, which equals nearly three years of continuous use!

Using Appliance Functions

It is essential to use your refrigerator’s no-frost mode. When ice builds up, it blocks the vents, forcing your appliance to work twice as hard and waste energy.

Samsung’s built-in oven models include an Air Frying functionality. Using this function will cut down on your cooking time and energy use.

We’ve also noticed the use of Zeolith drying in certain dishwasher models. This method uses the natural mineral Zeolite to absorb moisture and transform it into heat, thus lowering energy consumption. This leads to exceptionally effective air distribution and good drying.
