Keeping Your New Kitchen Looking Great – Naturally!
All My Beautiful Kitchens are custom made just for you and built to last.
However, if you don’t have one of ours and your trying to keep your kitchen looking like the day it was installed then her are some tips.
The good news is your don’t have to fill your under-sink cupboard with a bewildering range of pricey cleaners to keep your kitchen looking and smelling spic and span. Most commercial kitchen products are toxic, non-biodegradable and can take their toll on your kitchen in the long run anyway. Some of the best things for keeping your kitchen in shape are already there.
Vinegar
Vinegar might taste great on chips, but it has a host of other uses too. It’s brilliant for getting rid of those hard-to-remove stains from steel utensils and very effective when it comes to deodorising the sink drain too. Try a cup in a dishwater cycle to get your dishwasher sparkling like new.
Got a stinky lunchbox? Dip a piece of bread in vinegar and place it inside overnight for a clean smelling lunchbox in the morning. It’s also very effective at cleaning those hard-to-reach places in the microwave. Mix two parts of vinegar with two parts of water and put it in a spray bottle.
To remove limescale from taps, cover the affected area with a small rag soaked in vinegar and seal with a plastic bag for a couple of hours. Try one part vinegar, one part water, to de-scale your kettle.
Lemon Juice
Why do you think so many commercial cleaning products come in a ‘lemon’ flavour? Because it smells great and cuts through grime easily, that’s why! Try it for yourself. Cut a lemon in half, sprinkle some salt on it and watch how it cuts through to the shine on your kitchen sink.
Squeeze some through your fingers after preparing fish for non-fishy fingers. Lemon juice is also very effective for removing stains from wooden surfaces without ruining the grain.
Baking soda
Baking soda is another natural cleanser and deodoriser. Put a couple of teaspoons in your sink drain and the foaming action will clean any grime away in seconds. Mixed with vinegar, it will even clear a blocked drain.
Make a paste from baking soda, hot water and salt and rub it on the walls of your oven. Leave for a couple of hours or overnight and, hey presto, all that sooty grease comes off with a single wipe. What’s more, keep a small dish of baking soda placed in the fridge and you won’t suffer from any unwanted odours.
Hope this helps,
